Travel Information

Air

By far the easiest way to reach Las Cruces by air is to fly into El Paso, Texas airport. This is much closer than Albuquerque, and more convenient than one of the few flights into Las Cruces airport. El Paso airport is located about 50 miles from the university and hotels. There are several options for car rentals at the airport, usually at good rates. There is also a shuttle from El Paso airport to Las Cruces that will take you directly to your hotel. We have arranged a special price for BLAST participants on this shuttle of $40 one way or $65 round trip. If two or more are on the same flight, there is a reduced price for groups. To get this rate, please tell them you are a BLAST participant when booking. Their phone number is 1-800-288-1784 and their webpage is www.lascrucesshuttle.com

Car

The university and hotels are close to the intersection of interstates 25 and 10. Here is a PDF of a Google map to the Hilton Garden Hotel from the El Paso Airport, and here is an interactive Google map.

Parking

There will be parking at the university but one needs a parking pass. Visitors can get free daily or weekly parking passes at Visitor Parking Passes. General information about parking is available at park.nmsu.edu. The hotel for the conference is about a 15 minute walk from the location of the talks, so it won't be necessary to drive to the university from the hotel. A limited number of rides may be available from the hotel to the conference site in the morning.

Walking to Science Hall

If you stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, you'll have a 1.4 mile walk to Science Hall. Here is a Google map of the walk. The walk is slightly less from the Sleep Inn.
