The Borromean rings, named after an Italian family who used them for their family symbol, consist of three interlinked rings that have the property that if any one ring is cut and removed, then the entire collection can be separated.
Here is a method to build the rings. Cut out three rings. Take one ring, and place another on top of it. Take the third ring, cut a slit in it, and weave it around the other two by starting it below the first ring, then above the second, back under the first, and finally over again the second. Tape the ring, and you will have made the Borromean rings. Here is another view of the rings.

Problem 1. Build a set of Borromean rings. To build the rings, draw a ring, color it, and cut it out. Cut a slit in one of the rings so that you can join the rings together. Tape the slit shut and you will have your set of Borromean rings.
Problem 2. Build a collection of four interlinking rings that have the property that cutting and removing any one ring makes the entire collection come apart. Describe your procedure for building the rings.
