JERRY'S MASOOR DAL

2 cups masoor dal
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp tumeric
1 chunk ginger
1 tbsp ground coriander
2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2-1 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1 tsp salt

Soak the dal. Cook over medium heat along with tumeric and ginger. Once dal is fairly cooked, saute the ground coriander, cumin, cayenne, and asafoetida in the butter. Add to the dahl and mix well. Salt to taste. Scale down amount accordingly. Cook in medium size Le Creuset.
